Audierne "GWAIEN"
- The town is a harbour -

Originally a working harbour Audierne used to be an active trading harbour on one on the main maritime route in west Europe and a saving sheltered stop before or after sailing through the fearsome passage of The "Raz de Sein".
First and foremost a fishing harbour . From the beginning of the XXth century, giving up the sardine's net in familiar water, its ships sail out proudly on faraway seas.

But for Audierne, fishing is not only a nice story from the past. It is still alive and dynamic. From the "Raz de Sein" to the "Arme" lighthouse, its boats are frequenting today some closer area, but their goal remains the same: catching the best of fine fish and seafood lobster, spider crabs...

From the top of the "pointe du Raz" cliffs, you will be breathless to watch the "ligneurs" on the waves close to the "Vieille" lighthouse. Their hope? To catch the finest and wildest fish that we can ever eat : the "bar de ligne" (angling sea bass), a name that will guarantee its authenticity and freshness.

After having seen the return of the boats and their harvest of the day, you will find the best of the catch in the restaurants of the town for your own gustative pleasure. Because Audierne being is a small harbour with limited quantities of fish unloaded, it has buit a really good reputation for outstanding quality.

But the nourishing sea is also a leisure area: besides being a fishing harbour, Audierne is also a yachting harbour. The pontoon is only a few steps from the heart of the town where you will find all the shops and services.

All the nautical leisure are there as well, yachting school, surf school, diving club.. Is that your choice, nobody will question your right for laziness, "farniente" or splashing about !

To enjoy these more quiet activities, the beach will offer you the softness of its fine sand.
